SPECIAL EPISODE: INTERVIEW WITH DR. ELLIOT BLOOM
For this episode of AstroArticulated, we had the honor and privilege of interviewing Nobel Prize laureate Dr. Elliot Bloom about his career story.
Dr. Bloom received his bachelor's degree in Physics from Pomona College in 1962. He then earned his Ph.D. in particle physics from Caltech in 1967. Dr. Bloom joined Stanford as a professor of particle physics and astrophysics and became part of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Dr. Bloom is currently a professor emeritus at Stanford University. In 1990, he was part of a team led by Jerome Friedman, Henry Kendall, and Richard Taylor that received the Nobel Prize in Physics "for their pioneering investigations concerning deep inelastic scattering of electrons on protons and bound neutrons, which have been of essential importance for the development of the quark model in particle physics." Dr. Bloom has had a long and exceptionally full career with an extensive list of professional achievements in the field of physics. Today, our goal is to learn more about Dr. Bloom’s career and his personal story in the field.
We are very excited about this special episode. Dr. Bloom and I had a very interesting and in depth conversation about his career and physics story. We hope that you enjoy this podcast!
